By now you should have read the first 6 chapters of Things Fall Apart. We had a short quiz in class today, and then went through the information in the class powerpoint: September 22 – AP Lit
Finally, your homework is to complete the“Four Perspectives” worksheet in in preparation for a discussion of the main character – Okonkwo – which we will be having in class tomorrow.
There are MANY online resources to help you understand the book if you’re struggling at all. Here are a few to get you started:
http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/things/ – It’s a good place to begin, but it does not – by any means – give you all the information you will need to know.
http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/anglophone/achebe.html – good overview with main points and questions from WWU
http://www.uiowa.edu/~africart/toc/people/Igbo.html – information on the Igbo people
Side note: There is also a poorly produced movie starring 50cent with the same title – it has nothing to do with the book, but the trailer is amusingly bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4KFzMsGy0g
